This privacy policy governs your use of the mobile application Shopping List & Notes (also known as Kauppalista & Muistiinpanot).

Data Collection and Usage
The application does not require user accounts and is designed to work without collecting personally identifiable information such as your name, address, or contact details.
All shopping lists, notes, favorites, and other everyday content you create are stored locally on your device. The developer does not receive or host your lists/notes.
AI Features (Meal Suggestions & Weekly Meal Plans)
The application includes optional AI-powered features, such as meal/recipe suggestions and weekly meal plans. When you use these features, the text you provide (for example, preferences, wishes, allergies/restrictions, number of days, servings) is sent to a secure backend service solely to generate the requested AI result.
The AI request text is processed transiently for generating a response. It is not used to create a personal profile in the application and is not associated with a user account.
Security & Anti-Abuse (App Check, Play Integrity, Rate Limiting)
To prevent abuse and protect availability, the backend may verify technical tokens and perform rate limiting. This can include:
- Firebase App Check token (to verify requests originate from a legitimate app instance).
- Google Play Integrity token + nonce (to help detect tampered or untrusted environments).
- Client identifier (an app-generated technical identifier used to apply usage limits).
- Request counters and timestamps (to enforce daily and short-term rate limits).
These checks are used for security and service protection purposes only. They are not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or building personal user histories.
Voice Input (Speech-to-Text)
The app may offer voice input for adding items. Voice recognition is provided by your device’s speech recognition service (for example, Google Speech-to-Text on Android). Depending on device settings and language packs, speech recognition may require an internet connection and may be processed by the provider of the speech service.
Third-Party Services
The AI functionality relies on third-party AI services to generate responses. Only the text required to generate the requested suggestion is transmitted. In addition, the app may use security verification services such as Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity for abuse prevention.
Data Retention
The application does not build personal user histories. AI request text is not stored for profiling or tracking.
Limited technical/anti-abuse records (such as rate-limit counters and last-seen timestamps tied to technical identifiers) may be stored to enforce usage limits and protect the service. These records are not used to identify you as a person.

The AI-generated suggestions provided by the application are intended for general informational and inspirational purposes only.
AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, or contain errors. The application does not guarantee the correctness, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated information. Users should apply their own judgment and verify information when necessary.
